Description

This attractive antique cabinet dates from c.1800 and is constructed from solid oak. It is designed to be hung on a wall and retains hanging brackets at the top and bottom. The cabinet has a single glazed door which opens to reveal three fixed shaped oak shelves. The cabinet interior (excluding the tops and front of the shelves) has been later painted and the shelves have had later plastic plate-holder strips fitted. The cabinet retains what we believe to be its original brass H-hinges and has had a replacement decorative brass handle and escutcheon fitted. No lock or key is present.

Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some quite heavy scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall a little faded. The varnished finish is worn and the piece would benefit from painting or re-finishing. There are some signs of restoration - the interior painting is later and the handle and escutcheon are replacements. No lock or key is present. One of the top corner mouldings is loose.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 103cm high, 75.5cm wide (across front), 37.5cm deep (from corner to middle of the front) (to maximums).
