Description

This lovely chest of drawers is of nice small proportions. It dates from c.1780 and is constructed from what we believe to be mostly solid mahogany with oak-lined drawers. The chest has three small drawers along the top with two long drawers underneath. It is supported on bracket feet. The chest has nice chamfered front edges with tramline decoration. The chest has (replacement) decorative brass handles, and it retains its original locks together with a single working key. It is a lovely country piece.

Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall a little faded. There are some marks and indentation, and some quite significant dark marking to the top. There is some wood shrinkage cracking and some minor areas of wood loss. The chest shows some signs of restoration - the handles are replacements and the appear to have had some restoration work.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 81.5cm high, 113cm wide, 54cm deep (to maximums).
