Description

This pair of decorative are probably of continental (French) origins and date from the first part of the twentieth century. They have gilt-painted wood and gesso bases with velvet tops, bronze cherubs playing horns attached, brass stems and fittings and later antique style shades. They have D.S. stamped into the base together with a number, which looks to be 0484. They have had more modern electrical wires and fittings fitted at some point and are in good working order, although we recommend that they be tested by a qualified electrician prior to use.

Condition: Overall in good condition with some wear consistent with age. There is some grubbiness, wear and damage to the bases, more significantly so to the corners. They show some signs of repair. The cherubs have some wear and dustiness. The brass stems and fittings have some tarnishing. The shades are a little grubby, worn and discoloured. The lamps have had more modern electrical wires and fittings fitted at some point and are in good working order, although we recommend that they be tested by a qualified electrician prior to use.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
44cm high (to top of shade), 16cm square base.
