Description

This lovely oil lamp has a sterling silver outer, which is fully hallmarked for London 1897, together with the maker's mark JB, which we believe is for Joseph Braham of London. The oil lamp is weighted and has what we believe to be a silver-plated dual burner. The body of the oil lamp has lovely reeded decoration. The lamp has a later glass chimney and cranberry glass shade - we would estimate the shade to date from around the 1920s.

Condition: Overall in very good condition with some wear consistent with age. The silver is tarnished and would benefit from a careful clean. The sterling silver body of the burner has some dents and knocks. The marks are rubbed. The silver-plating on the burner is worn and there is no wick present. The cranberry glass shade has some manufacturing flaws and some nibbling around the base. The glass chimney has some nibbling / small chips around the top and the base.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
29cm high to top of burner, 51cm high to top of chimney, 11cm diameter of burner.
