Description

This attractive chest of drawers dates from c.1820, and is a nice simple piece of Georgian country furniture. It is constructed from mahogany, some solid, some veneered over solid wood. It has two small drawers over three longer drawers, all of which retain turned wooden handles. The chest retains its locks and escutcheons, but please note that no keys are present. It is supported on high bracket feet with a shaped lower apron to the front and sides. It would benefit from some tlc.

Condition: Overall this is an attractive piece, but is in need of some restoration. There is some scuffing, scratching and quite heavy wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall faded. The wood is a little dry and would benefit from being repolished. There are some areas of damage, loss and cracking to the woodwork and veneers, and some loss to the cock-beading around the drawer fronts. There is some wood loss around the feet. There is some lifting to the veneers in places and some shrinkage cracking around the top corners. The drawers are stiff and the drawer runners need attention. The top is stained and marked.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 105cm high, 100cm wide, 50.5cm deep (to maximums).
