Description

This lovely large oil lamp dates from around 1890. It has a cut cranberry glass reservoir of a deep colour, which is supported on a brass pedestal terminating in a black pottery base. The lamp has an English duplex burner with a single wick present, and retains a glass chimney and opaque white ribbed glass shade. It is a lovely decorative piece. There are no maker's marks.

Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. It is overall a little tarnished. The brassware has some surface corrosion in places, mainly to the burner. The black pottery base has some crazing underneath and some stress cracking. There is also a large crack to the glass shade to one side - it remains usuable however.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 66cm high, 17cm diameter of base.
