Description

This Wedgwood tea set dates from the late nineteenth century. It is of small proportions with an attractive design. The pieces are hand-painted in the oriental style with branches and small orange flowers. Please note that it is not complete and does have some damage. Present are a teapot, a milk jug (with a broken handle), six small cups, six small plates (two are chipped), and a lid, presumably for a sugar pot which is now missing. Some pieces are impressed with 'Wedgwood' and the milk jug has the Mortlock Oxford Street retailer's stamp on the bottom.

Condition: Incomplete and with some damage. All the pieces have some crazing, which is heavy in places, and some manufacturing imperfections as might be expected. There is some chipping and wear to the paintwork in places and some wear and imperfecttions in the glaze. The teapot has some cracking to the knob of the lid, a crack near the bottom of the handle, a chip to the inner rim of the top and some chipping around the spout. The milk jug handle is detached but present. One cup has a crack. One plate is badly chipped and cracked, and another has a chip to one side. There is an additional lid present - perhaps for a sugar bowl that is no longer present.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
Teapot - 8cm high, 15cm long (spout to handle)
Cup - 4cm high, 6.5cm diameter of top
Plate - 12.5cm diameter.
