Description

This attractive gilt-framed pier mirror dates from the first half of the nineteenth century. It retains its original mirrored glass with an ebonised wooden inner frame with tramline decoration. The mirror has a lovely wooden and gesso gilt-painted frame with column decoration. It is designed to be hung on a wall and retains two more modern metal hanging brackets on the back.

Condition: Overall in fair condition and in need of some restoration. The mirror has some pitting, corrosion and damage to the foil backing. The frame is overall grubby, scuffed and worn with some cracking, chipping and loss. It has been stripped and over-painted at some point and has some white paint flecking in places. There is a piece of the gilt frame missing above the mirror which requires replacement. The frame would have originally had white ceramic bun feet, which are now missing.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
Visible Mirror - 59cm by 34cm
Overall - 85cm by 49cm, 7cm deep.
