Description

This lovely flask is of excellent quality. It is made of glass, the outside of which is wicker-covered. The wicker-work is original and cannot be removed. Both the flask and the original removable glass stopper are silver-mounted and both parts are clearly hallmarked for London 1903 - although only the bottle has the assay town mark - with the makers mark for Hukin & Heath (John Thomas Heath & John Hartshorne Middleton). The stopper catch also has the registration number 534084 stamped on, which dates to 1909. Also present is a small lever padlock which fits the catch - we are not sure whether this is original and no key is present.

Condition: Overall in good condition with some wear consistent with age and use. The wicker-work is overall grubby with some areas of damage and loss. There is no obvious damage to the glass (although this is difficult to tell beneath the wicker covering) and the bottle is watertight. The silver parts have some tarnishing. The glass stopper is chipped at the bottom and has a dent to the edge of the silver mount. As is mentioned above we are not sure whether the padlock is original, and it is missing its key.
