Description

This lovely James Shoolbred occasional table dates from c.1890 and is constructed from solid oak. It has a nine-sided top with central carved foliage decoration surrounded by a carved stylised decoration. The table has three turned legs and a lower shaped shelf with carved foliage decoration. It retains its original maker's plaque on the underneath of the table top frame - this reads: 'James Shoolbred Tottenham House Tottenham Court Road London'. There is also what we believe to be a design number carved into the frame - this is 6290.

Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition, with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the table is overall slightly faded and grubby. There are a few lightened patches to the top of the table. There are some signs of old restoration and repair - there is a repaired crack to the lower shelf of the table, and this shelf has had some brass brackets fitted underneath to stregthen it. There is some wood loss around the feet.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 62.5cm high, 43cm diameter of top (to maximums).
