Description

This attractive vintage gramophone was made in England by Dulcetto (British Polyphon Company). It retains its maker's transfer with parrot logo inside the lid. The gramophone is housed in a mahogany cabinet, some of which is solid, some veneered over solid wood. The cabinet has a hinged top, which opens to reveal the turntable with 'Crescendo' Junior Sound Box and original fabric protector. The removable winding handle is present and is fitted to one side. Beneath the turn table are small double doors, which open to reveal the horn and beneath this are another set of larger double doors which open to reveal a compartment for storing records. The doors retain their original turned wooden handles and the gramophone is supported on tapering legs. The gramophone is in working order, but would benefit from a careful clean and service. The gramophone retains some replacement needles.

Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. As is mentioned above the gramophone is in working order, but would benefit from a clean and service. The wooden case has some scuffing, fading and wear as might be expected and is a little rough to the touch. There is some veneer loss to one back corner of the top and inside one of the top doors. There is some scuffing and scratching to one side where the handle is fitted. The metal fixings have some surface rusting. The fabric lining of the turntable is loose and fraying around the edges.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 99cm high, 47cm wide, 51cm deep (to maximums).
