Victorian Inlaid Mahogany Sarcophagus Tea Caddy
Description
This attractive antique tea caddy dates from around the 1860s. It has a nice sarcophagus shape with mahogany veneers and satinwood inlay. The caddy is supported on bun feet and has brass handles at either side. It retains its lock but please note that no key is present. The caddy has velvet-type material lining to the inside of the top, but is missing its dividers and inner contents.Condition: Overall in fair condition with some wear consistent with age and use. As is mentioned above the caddy is missing its inner fittings. Externally there is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall a little faded. There is some loss to the satinwood inlay in places and a few woodworm holes - the woodworm is not active, but has been retreated as a precaution. There is no key present.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
19cm high, 31cm wide, 15cm deep (to maximums).
