Description

This attractive antique show-frame sofa dates from around 1905 and is very much in the art nouveau style. It has a mahogany frame with fretwork back splats and satinwood inlays. It has an upholstered seat and central back panel, shaped arms, and a subtle serpentine front. The sofa is supported on tapering turned legs at the front with ring-turned decoration and splayed back legs. It is of nice petite proportions.

Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. The frame is solid with only minimal movement in the joints. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall faded. There are some marks, including a large white mark to one arm, and the piece would benefit from being re-polished. The upholstery is not original and is dated and faded. Some of the braiding at the front is loose.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 80.5cm high, 113cm wide, 50.5cm deep (to maximums) 41cm high to seat
