Description

This antique oil lamp is 'The Miller Lamp' and was made the USA by Edward Miller & Co. of Connecticut. We believe it to be size no.2 and it sits approx. 11 3/4" high to the top of the burner. It has the name of the lamp embossed into the top. The lamp is brass and has a round shape and with lovely embossed decoration. It has 'Made in the United States of America' embossed into the reservoir screw top and '2 Patents - Pat. June 28 1892' engraved into the thumbwheel that raises and lowers the wick. It has a screw lower collar into the reservoir and a bayonet-type upper collar for the fitting which holds the glass chimney. It retains a later English glass chimney, but no shade is present.

Condition: Overall in good condition with some wear consistent with age and use. It is in good working order and retains a wick. It is tarnished and has some minor denting in places. The lamp is possibly missing a weight from its base and there is a empty screw fitting about half way up the base. No shade is present. The glass chimney is a replacement and has a couple of chips around the bottom rim.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
30cm high (to top of burner), 53cm high (to top of chimney), 15.5cm diameter of base.
