Description

This lovely and unusual dressing chest is of continental origins and dates from the first half of the twentieth century, although it is older in style. We believe it to be constructed from solid birch with feathered walnut venereed drawer fronts, although please note that we are not 100% sure of the wood types. It has a marble top and back panel with a small marble shelf near the top. Above the shelf is a birch-framed bevel-edged shaped mirror. Beneath the marble top are small small drawers over two long drawers. The drawers retain their original brass handles and the longer drawers retain their locks, although please note that no key is present. The piece is supported on shaped legs. It is of superb quality. The piece can be dismantled for ease of transportation.

Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some knocking and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall a little faded. There are some flaws, cracks and chips to the marble. The marble shelf is chipped to the left-hand side and has a crack in the middle which has been repaired at some point by fixing a strip of wood underneath There is a small stained area to the marble top near the back. There is some minor pitting to the mirror. The bottom drawer handle on the right-hand side has had a replacement handle fitted (please note that the back-plate of this handle is original.

The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 188cm high, 110.5cm wide, 57.5cm deep 82cm high to marble top (to maximums).
