Description

This attractive pair of antique balloon-back dining chairs date from c.1870. They are constructed primarily from what we believe to be solid walnut. The chairs have shaped backs, turned front legs, swept back legs, shaped seat rails with serpentine fronts, and upholstered drop-in seats. The upholstery is a red velvet material which is more modern than the chairs.

Condition: Overall this handsome pair of chairs are in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and they are overall a little faded. The chairs are solid with only minimal movement in the joints. The upholstery has some wear and fading. The metal fixings have some surface rusting.

Overall - 88cm high, 46cm wide, 49cm deep (to maximums) 46cm high to seat.
