Description

This attractive antique Victorian wash cabinet dates from the mid-nineteenth century. It is constructed from mostly solid mahogany, with some parts veneered over solid wood. The cabinet has a hinged lift-up top, which opens to reveal a shelf with a central cut out for a wash bowl. Beneath this is a two-door cupboard with a single removable shelf inside. The inside of the cupboard has been painted at some point. The cupboard retains its lock, but please note that no key is present.

Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall a little faded. There is some knocking and denting in places and some areas of veneer loss to the base. The right-hand cupboard door has some beading missing from its middle edge. The gallery is a little loose and shows some signs of repair to the left-hand side, where there is also some wood loss. The paintwork inside the cupboard is scuffed and worn. The handles of the false drawer front both have some wood loss. There are some signs of old woodwork damage to the plinth base - this is not active but has been retreated as a precaution.
