Description

This lovely antique washstand dates from c.1900. It is made from what we believe to be solid satinwood with a marble top, and is tile-backed with lovely original art nouveau style tiles. The washstand has a decorative top rail and shaped side supports. Beneath the marble top is a two-door cupboard. The washstand is supported on turned wooden legs terminating in original metal and ceramic castors.

Condition Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition, with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing, knocking and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the piece is overall a little faded. There is some denting and nibbling to the marble top. Both the cupboard doors are bowed and do not quite sit flush. The tiles have some grubbiness and wear. There are some holes and marks to the right-hand side, possibly where a towel rail was once fitted (although it is no longer present).

The approx. measurements are as follows
Overall - 132cm high, 76.5cm high to work surface, 92m wide, 46.5cm deep (to maximums).
