Description

This lovely antique writing table has a beautiful satinwood finish with what what we believe to be ebony and rosewood inlay. It is regency in style, but we believe it to be late nineteenth century in date although it could be earlier. The writing table has a gallery, with shaped sides and an inlaid top edge. It has a dark hard leather writing surface. Beneath the writing surface are three drawers with cross-banded fronts. The drawers retain turned wooden handles (a couple of which may be later replacements). All the drawers retain their locks and escutcheons, although please note that no key is present. The writing table is supported on elegant tapering inlaid legs terminating in original brass castors.

Condition Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition, with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the piece is overall a little faded. There is an area of loss to the veneer at the back edge. There is some wood shrinkage cracking to the veneers in places. There are some marks and stains to the writing surface.
