Description

This attractive majolica pottery basket was designed to carry eggs or egg cups. It has four holes in the top. The basket design simulates wood with flower and berry decoration and a twisted vine handle. It has a mark on the bottom but nothing identifiable. We would estimate it to date from the second half of the nineteenth century.

Condition Overall in good condition with some wear consistent with age and use. The piece has some crazing and there is a small flake to the glaze of the handle at one side. It is overall a little grubby and would benefit from a careful clean.

The approx. measurements are as follows
14cm high, 17cm diameter.
