Description

This attractive antique chest is of lovely small proportions. It dates from c.1890 and is constructed from solid pine, which has been stripped at some point, and has a waxed finish. The chest consists of two small drawers over three longer graduated drawers. It is supported on a plinth base with a shaped apron at the front. The drawers retain their locks and escutcheons, but please note that no key is present. They have replacement brass knob handles (one of which is missing its back plate).

Condition Overall this handsome piece is in usuable condition, with some wear consistent with age and use. It would benefit from some tlc. There is some scuffing, scratching, knocking and wear to the woodwork as might be expected from an antique country piece. There are some paint flecks and marks. The metalwork is tarnished and as is mentioned above the handle of the top right-hand drawer is missing its back plate, and this handle has been set slightly higher than the others for some reason.

The approx. measurements are as follows
Overall - 94.5cm high, 62cm wide, 48cm deep (to maximums).
