Description

This attractive antique marble-topped washstand dates from c.1905. It is constructed from mainly solid maogany with ebony and satinwood inlay. The washstand has a wooden-framed marble back with a small shaped shelf above and a marble top above a two-door cupboard. It is supported on tapering legs. The cupboard doors retain their original metal handles. Please note that the piece splits in two for ease of transportation.

Condition Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall a little faded. The marble back has a crack in it. There are some scuffs and marks to the shelf above the marble back. The right-hand door is slightly warped and the left-hand door is missing its swing catch. There are some signs of old restoration and repair. There are some signs of old woodworm - this is not active but has been retreated as a precaution.
