Description

This antique corner cabinet dates from approx. the 1930s but is older in style. It is constructed from mahogany, some solid, some veneered over solid wood. The top part of the cabinet has a single astral-glazed door that opens to reveal two removable wooden shelves that have had later plate rests fitted. The bottom door is wooden with moulded decoration and opens to reveal a single removable wooden shelf. The piece is supported on shaped bracket feet. Both the top and bottom sections retain their locks and one key is present which works both locks (although please note that they bottom lock is temperamental).

Condition Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition, but does have some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing, knocking and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the piece is overall a little faded. As is mentioned above the plate rests inside the top cabinet are additions and one on the bottom is loose. There is some lifting and bubbling to the veneer in places and a few small losses. There is some shrinkage cracking to the back panels, and some marking inside the top cupboard which suggests that once the cabinet may have been lined inside.

Overall - 188.5cm high, 70cm wide (across the front), 42cm deep (from corner to middle of the front) (to maximums).
