Description

This superb Georgian cellarette dates from approx. 1780 and is constructed from mahogany with lovely inlaid decoration to the front and top. The cellarette has a lift-up lid and retains its original handles at either side. It is supported on square tapering legs. The inside retains its original wooden dividers with eight bottle sections. The cellarette retains a lock (which we believe to be a replacement)and a working key.

Condition Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition, with some wear consistent with age and use. It does have some signs of restoration - as is mentioned above we believe the lock to have been replaced. There is a bow to the lid. This is not apparent when it is locked, but is when it is unlocked (see photographs). There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall slightly faded. There is a wood shrinkage crack inside to the back panel.

The approx. measurements are as follows
Overall - 64cm high, 50cm wide, 27cm deep (to maximums).
