Description

This attractive Victorian chiffonier is of nice small proportions. It dates from approx. 1870 and is constructed from mahogany, some solid, some veneered over solid wood. The chiffonier has a shaped back panel with upper small serpentine shelf and shaped supports. The back panel can be unscrewed if desired. The bottom section consists of a hidden drawer beneath the work surface with a two-door cabinet beneath, which has a single wooden shelf inside. The cupboard door retains its lock and escutcheon, but please note that no key is present. The chiffonier is supported on a plinth base.

Condition Overall this attractive piece is in usuable condition, but does have some wear consistent with age and use and would benefit from being re-polished or painted. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and some fading. The finish is rather patchy. There is some wood shrinkage in places, including to the sides. There is an area of wood loss to the left hand side corner below the work surface, and some veneer loss around the base.

The approx. measurements are as follows
Overall - 142cm high, 84cm high (to work surface), 92cm wide, 41cm deep (to maximums).
