Vintage 1930s/1940s Large 22" English Teddy Bear

1 of 6
Description
This lovely vintage bear has no maker's marks or labels, but he has the characteristics of a English bear, and is possibly made by Merrythought or Farnell. He has mohair fur with replacement fabric pads and a pronounced shaven muzzle. He has glass eyes, a black (faded) stitched nose and mouth, and black claw stitching to his feet and hands. He has webbed hand claws. He is fully jointed. He is hard stuffed and wearing a bowtie around his neck - we do not believe this is original. We believe him to date from the 1930s/1940s.Condition Overall in very good condition, with some playwear consistent with age and use. His mohair fur is thinning in places and a little faded. The orange part of his glass eyes has deteriorated. He shows signs of restoration and repair - we believe his pads to be replacements and there are some signs of re-stitching. His legs joints are a little loose.
The approx. measurements are as follows
56cm high.
