Description

This attractive Georgian chest of drawers dates from c.1810 and is constructed from mahogany, some solid, some veneered over solid wood. The chest consists of five long drawers that are graduated in size and has a simple string inlay to the top. The drawers have replacement brass handles, and they retain their locks and escutcheons, although please note that no key is present. The piece is supported on tall bracket feet.

Condition Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition, with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall a little faded. As is mentioned above the handles are replacements and there is no key is present. There are some signs of old woodworm to the left-hand side - this is not active but has been retreated as a precaution. There is some inlay missing from around the top. The chest shows some signs of old restoration and repair. There is a white paint scuff to the right-hand side.
