Description

This superb art deco double wardrobe is an original piece dating from approx. the 1920s. It has stunning veneers, primarily burr walnut and walnut, with a quarter veneered doors and drawer fronts. The wardrobe consists of double doors with lovely shaped tops, which open to reveal a full width metal hanging rail with shelf above. Beneath this are two drawers. The wardrobe retains its lock and one working key is present. The doors and drawers retain their metal and early plastic / Bakalite handles, but please note that the plastic is missing on the drawer handles. The wardrobe has a shaped lower apron to the front and sides and is supported on shaped feet. It is of heavy construction and superb quality. There are no maker's marks or labels. Please note that the wardrobe splits in two to aid with transportation.

Condition Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition, with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some light scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and some fading, cracking and chipping to the veneers. As is mentioned above the plastic part of the handles is missing from the drawers. The right-hand door is slightly warped meaning that it does not quite sit flush at the bottom.

The approx. measurements are as follows
Overall - 202.5cm high, 126cm wide, 53cm deep (to maximums).
