Description

This lovely vintage bear was made by Chad Valley and retains his maker's label sewn into the bottom of one food. He has mohair fur and fabric pads. He has black boot-button eyes, a black stitched nose and mouth and black claw stitching to his hands and feet. He is fully jointed. He has a soft stuffed body with a hard stuffed head. We believe him to date from the 1930s. He has what we believe to be a growler inside his tummy, but this is no longer operative.

Condition Overall in fair condition, with some significant playwear consistent with age and use. His mohair fur is thinning with large bald patches, and he has been well-loved. He is faded and quite grubby. He had replacement pads fitted at some point, and although these have been removed the remains are still there. The fabric pads underneath are original, but are grubby and have some holing. His nose stitiching has some loss and fraying and some of his claw stitching is missing. His eyes have some pitting and wear. His joints are a little loose.
