Description

This attractive corner cabinet dates from c.1905, but is older in style. It is constructed from mahogany, some solid, some veneered over solid wood, and has lovely satinwood inlay. The cabinet consists of an upper section with a single astral-glazed door, which opens to reveal two fixed wooden shelves inside. Below this is a cupboard with a wooden door with inlaid shell motif to the centre, which opens to reveal a single fixed wooden shelf inside. The doors retain their decorative escutcheons, but please note that the bottom door is missing its lock and that no keys are present. The piece is supported tall shaped bracket feet. Please note that it splits in two for ease of transportation.

Condition Overall this handsome piece is in usuable condition, but does have some wear consistent with age and use and would benefit from some restoration work. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the piece is overall a little faded. There are minor losses to the veneer and the inlay, including to the right-hand side of the bottom of the top section and to the top of the bottom section at the same side. There are a few small areas of wood loss. There are various knocks and dents and some cracking and bubbling to the veneer and inlays. There are some paint flecks. As is mentioned above there are no keys present and the bottom cupboard door is missing its lock.

The approx. measurements are as follows
Overall - 189.5cm high, 69cm wide (across front), 39cm deep (from corner to centre of front) (to maximums).
