Description

This superb antique armchair dates from approx. 1810. It has a lovely shape and would make a nice desk or occasional chair. The chair has a shaped top rail, with a lower tulip design back rail, and beautiful scrolled arms. It has a drop-in upholstered seat pad with a modern calico finish. The chair is supported on octagonal and turned front legs and swept back legs with a lower decorative X-stretcher.

Condition Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition, with some scuffing, knocking and wear consistent with age and use. It is a little faded in places. There are some signs of old restoration and repair, including to one of the scroll arms and to both back legs, and there are some areas of minor wood loss. The upholstered drop-in seat is a modern replacement, and the upholstery is in excellent clean condition.

The approx. measurements are as follows
Overall - 92cm high, 63cm wide, 58cm deep (to maximums) 48cm high to seat.
