Description

This superb antique armchair retains its brass maker's plaque on the underneath of the seat for Heal & Son (196 Tottenham Court Road, London). We believe it to be constructed from solid oak, although please note that we are not 100% sure of the wood type. The chair has a lovely design as is to be expected from a piece of Heal's furniture. It has a shaped seat, bent wood arms, and a spindle back. It is in the American style. The chair is supported on turned legs with turned stretchers in between. We would estimate it to date from the turn of the twentieth century.

Condition Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition, with some scuffing, knocking and wear consistent with age and use. It is a little faded in places. One of the spindles is a little loose in its setting, but does not remove.

The approx. measurements are as follows
Overall - 113.5cm high, 53.5cm wide, 48cm deep (to maximums) 43cm high to seat.
