Description

This antique writing or dressing table looks to date from the second half of the eighteenth century. It is a lovely quality piece. It has a single drawer beneath the top with a pull-out inner slide on top, which conceals a sectionalised interior. The front fretwork show hinges move with the drawer to provide support. The drawer retains its lock, escutcheon and handle, but please note that no key is present. The slide and drawer are lined with later sky blue felt. The table is supported on chamfered legs. It is a lovely quality piece.

Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing, knocking and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the piece is overall a little faded. The top of the table has some scraping and knocking and there is some nibbling to the veneers around the edges. There are some signs of old restoration and repair. The blue felt interior is not original and is worn, bobbled and grubby with some marks and stains.
