Description

This antique wall clock looks to date from the mid-nineteenth century. It is an 8-day clock and retains its movement and key. It has a lovely decorative mahogany case with a rounded base, an octagonal top, carved shoulders and lovely mother of pearl and metal string inlay. The clock retains its original wooden dial which has the maker M. L. Birhley hand-painted on. It is in working order, but would benefit from being serviced by a professional horologist prior to use.

Condition: Overall this handsome clock does require some repair work. The catch that holds the bezel into place is broken and missing and requires repair. The wooden face and the mahogany veneers have some significant wear, chipping and shrinkage cracking. One of the carved shoulders is cracked, and the clock has some fading and discolouration. There is some loss to the metal string inlay. The case shows some signs of repair in places. Although the clock is in working order it would benefit from being serviced by a professional horologist prior to use.

The approx measurements are as follows:
73cm high, 44cm wide, 17cm deep (to maximums).
