Description

This antique wash-stand dates from the late nineteenth century and is very much in the art nouveau style. It has what we believe to be a walnut base with a marble work surface and a three-piece walnut-framed back with carving at the top. Beneath the work surface are two drawers over a small central pot cupboard. The washstand is supported on turned legs terminating in metal and ceramic castors. The washstand retains its swing-out brass towel rails to either side. The piece retains what we believe to be its original handles.

Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing, knocking and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the piece is overall quite heavily faded. There is some nibbling to the edges of the marble work surface. There is some surface corrosion to the metal fixings. There are some signs of woodworm - this is not active but has been retreated as a precaution.
