Victorian Stripped Pine Small Chest of Drawers

Photos

Description

This attractive antique chest of drawers dates from approx. 1870. It has been stripped and re-finished at some point. The chest is constructed from solid pine and consists of two small drawers over two longer drawers. The drawers retain turned pine knob handles. Two of the drawers retain their locks (two are missing their locks), and all the drawers retain their brass escutcheons. Please note that no key is present. The chest is supported on short turned legs.

Condition Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition, with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the chest is overall a little faded. As is mentioned above two of the drawers are missing their locks and no key is present. The chest is possibly missing some edge beading from around either side at the top. There are some areas of minor wood loss in places, and some signs of old repair. There is some wood shrinkage splitting to the sides and top, and the top has some marks.

The approx. measurements are as follows
Overall - 78cm high, 109.5cm wide, 53cm deep (to maximums).
