Description

This attractive antique dressing chest dates from c.1910. It is constructed from mostly solid mahogany. It consists of an oval bevel-edged adjustable mirror at the back with tapering supports. There is a small drawer at either side of the work surface at the back. Beneath the work surface are two small drawers with two full-width drawers beneath. The edges have attractive delicate string inlay. The drawers retain their original metal ring handles. The piece is supported on elegant tapering legs which terminate in original metal castors. The lower drawers retain their locks, but one of the smaller drawers is missing its escutcheon and please note that no key is present. There is a retailer's plaque on the back for Flexteel Slumber Merchants of Portsmouth.

Condition Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition, with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the piece is overall faded. There are a few knocks and dents. As is mentioned above one of the drawers is missing its escutcheon. The mirror has some black flecks. The metalwork is tarnished.

The approx. measurements are as follows
Overall - 154cm high, 92.5cm wide, 50cm deep (to maximums).
