Description

A charming oil on board depicting a tranquil riverside scene in excellent antique condition. A lone figure stands at the water’s edge, while a pair of thatched cottages sit above the riverbank, nestled into the landscape. A sailing boat drifts across the water in the distance, and soft rolling hills fade gently into the horizon beneath a lightly clouded sky. The composition is framed by an ornate circular surround with finely carved floral and foliate motifs, adding a decorative and classical touch that complements the pastoral subject. Like all antiques there are imperfections however this is a beautifully atmospheric piece, full of warmth and quiet rural character.
