A beautifully carved Japanese wooden bear in excellent antique condition. The bear is captured mid-stride with its jaws open, creating a dynamic and expressive pose. The two-toned timber has been worked to produce a rich, textured surface that evokes the depth and movement of real fur, while darkened accents emphasise the contours and dramatic facial expression, giving the piece a striking sense of life and presence. A classic example of Kibori Kuma carving, it reflects both the cultural tradition and the exceptional craftsmanship associated with these iconic bears.
