Description

Fabulous 19th century German walnut bracket clock by clock makers Winterhalder & Hofmeier with gilt metal decoration. The arched architectural case houses its 8 day movement which strikes on a gong. The brass 12.5" dial is inscribed H Pomfritt, 40 Great Ancoats Street, Manchester, has black Roman numerals and protected by brass bezel with bevel edged glass. The backplate signed W&H/SCH/5 [Winterhalder & Hofmeier], Winterhalder & Hofmeier were considered the finest clockmakers in the Victorian era. A superb looking clock with beautiful colouring and graining in full working order.
