Description

One of a kind mahogany long case clock in unbelievable original condition. The fabulous arched hood is beautifully carved having a fret pediment and houses a superb silver chased dial with gilded and raised numbers. The 3 train musical movement chimes on 10 tubular gongs driven by 3 impressive brass weights. This fabulous quality movement is top of the range playing a choice of either Westminster or Whittington. The case has a stunning glazed front and sides ensuring there is plenty of light coming in which maximises the view of the magnificent brass weights, pendulum and nickel plated gongs. This is exhibition quality clock made from the finest mahogany profusely carved. There are side fret panels either side of the hood also on the back board which enhances the sound quality of chiming. There are two subsidiary dials one is to silence these chimes the other is allocates the tune played. Standing at 9 foot this is an impressive and wonderful example of craftmanship of the 19th century and a true statement piece.
