Description
Lovely quality 19th century French bronze bust of Menelaus, King of Sparta, from Greek mythology.Cast by Georges Emile Henri Servant after the antique, the rear bears his ‘GS’ mark with trademark image of a bee between the initials along with ‘Medaille D’Or 1867’ relating to the gold medal awarded at the Paris Exposition of that year.
The dark patinated bust sits on a gilt bronze waisted square socle with a total height of 28 cm and weight of 3.5 kg.
