Description

Rare pair of early 19th century Staffordshire pottery stirrup cups in the form of foxhound heads. Hand painted over glaze in brown and black, one has a blue mark to the nose which is under the glaze so part of the manufacturing process. Perhaps done for identification purposes.
Both have age crazing and one has a few short hairlines leading from the rim. There is the usual paint wear in places and some roughness to the rims after two hundred years of surface contact.
They measure 11 cm high.
