Description

Late 18th/early 19th century Staffordshire hand-painted circular box with screw-top cover. The box is of waisted shape and the domed lid decorated with a water mill landscape scene. The interior and exterior base along with the side have ornamental gilt detailing, typical of the period.
In good antique condition with surface and gilding wear commensurate with age and handling - there are two small nicks to the threaded interior rim of the base and a small repaired section to the threaded rim of the lid. Screw-top boxes from this era are quite rare survivors and often have large pieces missing to the threaded rims so condition of this example is considered well above average.
Measures 10 cm diameter and weighs 198 grams.
