Description

Lovely early 20th century Arts & Crafts wooden table box by the Yardley Studio with an original penwork image of Windsor Castle to the lid by the artist Charles Beresford Hopkins.
The box has two internal compartments and was probably designed for cigars and cigarettes but could be used for other purposes.
The artist also worked as a decorator of porcelain for Royal Doulton and one of his vases, an exhibition piece circa 1900 titled ‘The Pastoral Vase’, sold for £14,400 at Bonhams in 2007.
The box is signed to one side by the artist with an additional inscription to the base.
Measures 19 x 10 x 6 cm and in good condition with minimal surface wear commensurate with age and handling.
