Description

An elegant antique Louis XV style walnut settee, displaying the graceful curves and refined carving associated with the French Rococo tradition. The shaped crest rail rises gently at the center and is ornamented with a finely carved foliate and floral cartouche, flanked by scrolling acanthus motifs that flow into the serpentine outline of the back. The molded frame continues into outward curving arms supported by carved uprights, creating a light and balanced profile characteristic of the period style.
The settee stands on slender cabriole legs with carved detailing to the knees and subtle scroll feet, the front rail following a sinuous line and centered with a small carved floral ornament. The walnut frame has a warm, rich tone that highlights the quality of the carving and the natural grain of the wood, while the overall proportions create an elegant and comfortable seating form suitable for a variety of interior settings.

The seat and back are upholstered in a champagne-toned damask fabric featuring an intricate floral and foliate pattern woven in soft cream and pale blush tones.
