Description

A distinguished pair of late nineteenth-century Louis XV style side chairs, expertly crafted in solid walnut and finished in a deep, lustrous polish that accentuates the wood’s rich figuring and tonal warmth. The shaped crest rails are intricately carved with rocaille and foliate motifs, centered by a scrolling cartouche and framed by subtle floral flourishes, embodying the graceful asymmetry and fluid movement characteristic of the Louis XV aesthetic. The walnut frames display a mellow patina consistent with age, lending depth and authenticity to their presentation.
The gently contoured backs are inset with finely hand-woven cane panels, executed in a traditional open lattice pattern that provides both visual lightness and textural contrast against the substantial carved walnut frames. The caning is neatly tensioned and complements the elegant curvature of the molded back supports. Beneath, the seats are generously padded and upholstered in deep forest green leather, finished with classic button tufting that creates a sumptuous, inviting surface.
