Antique Ash & Elm Three-Legged Country Stool circa

Photos

Description

A charming antique English country stool dating to circa 1800, constructed in ash with a solid elm seat. Of traditional three-legged vernacular form, the stool is raised on turned supports united by cross stretchers, providing both strength and pleasing proportion. The generously thick elm seat displays a beautifully worn surface with natural undulation, small historic marks and an honest patina developed over many years of use.

The ash legs show attractive grain and subtle colour variation, complementing the darker tone of the seat. Solid, sturdy and practical, this is a wonderfully characterful example of early 19th century country furniture. Ideal as a fireside stool, occasional seat or decorative rustic accent within both traditional and contemporary interiors.
