WATERCOLOURThis vibrant watercolour is by Henry John Sylvester Stannard
R B A, R S A (1870-1951).
It is titled on the reverse "A Harvest Field in the Cotswolds".
It shows stooks of corn, a hay cart and cottages.
Stannard was a Bedford landscape and garden painter who studied at South Kensington School of Art. He exhibited widely including the Royal Academy, and his most characteristic works are cottage and village scenes painted in the tradition of Birket Foster.
