A fabulous Tortoise shell snuff box with an elaborate gold hinge, inlaid with abalony shell vignets of castles and buildings from far off lands in the centre of both front and back these are surrounded by elaborate tracery work of gold pins and small abalony roundels then around the outside are more abalony work with flower petal designs, the gold hinge is very intricately worked , it has been electronicly tested for gold and shows ten carrots
